How BIT Tech Is Embracing the Future: Claude Code, AI Agents, and n8n Automation

Back to Blog

At BIT Tech IT Solutions, we’re always exploring new technologies that can improve the quality and efficiency of our services. Over the past several months, we’ve been diving deep into three platforms that are genuinely changing how we work: Claude Code, AI agents, and n8n. Here’s what we’ve learned — and what it means for our clients.

Why We’re Investing in AI-Powered Tools

The IT industry is evolving rapidly, and so are the tools available to IT professionals. Artificial intelligence isn’t just a buzzword — when applied thoughtfully, it accelerates development, improves consistency, reduces manual effort, and lets our team focus on the high-value work that genuinely requires human expertise and judgement. We want to be at the forefront of that shift, not catching up with it.

Claude Code: AI-Assisted Development and Technical Work

Claude Code is Anthropic’s AI coding assistant — a command-line tool that works directly alongside developers and technical engineers within their existing workflow. Unlike browser-based AI chat tools, Claude Code operates in the terminal and has full access to the codebase it’s working on. It can read files, run commands, edit code, and reason about an entire project holistically rather than just responding to isolated snippets.

What sets it apart is its ability to handle genuinely complex, multi-step technical tasks — not just autocomplete or boilerplate generation. Some of the things we’ve been using it for include:

  • Web development and customisation: Building and refining custom PHP templates, implementing new features on client websites, and maintaining code quality across projects
  • Technical SEO work: Auditing site structure, analysing metadata, identifying crawlability issues, and implementing fixes systematically
  • Documentation and knowledge management: Keeping technical documentation accurate and up to date as systems evolve
  • Code review and quality checks: Reviewing changes for security vulnerabilities, performance issues, and maintainability

The impact on our technical work has been meaningful. Tasks that previously took hours of careful manual work can now be completed more quickly and with greater consistency — and Claude Code’s ability to explain its reasoning means our team is learning as well as delivering.

AI Agents: Autonomous Systems That Get Things Done

AI agents take AI assistance a step further. While a traditional AI chat tool responds to a single question, an AI agent can pursue a multi-step goal autonomously — planning a sequence of actions, using tools, adapting to intermediate results, and completing a task end-to-end with minimal human input.

Think of it as the difference between asking a colleague a question and delegating a project to them. Agents can:

  • Browse the web and research topics — gathering information from multiple sources, synthesising it, and producing structured outputs
  • Interact with APIs and services — making calls to external systems, processing responses, and taking follow-on actions based on results
  • Execute multi-step workflows — completing tasks that involve conditional logic, iteration, and decision-making without needing a human in the loop at each step
  • Monitor and respond to events — watching for triggers (a new file, a form submission, an alert) and taking predefined actions automatically

We’ve been exploring how AI agents can handle routine technical and operational tasks — freeing our engineers to focus on complex problem-solving and client relationships rather than repetitive, process-driven work.

n8n: Workflow Automation Without Limits

n8n (pronounced “nodemation”) is an open-source workflow automation platform — often described as a more powerful, self-hostable alternative to tools like Zapier or Make. It allows you to connect virtually any application, API, or service and build automated workflows through a visual drag-and-drop interface, without needing to write traditional code.

What makes n8n particularly compelling for an IT services company is its flexibility:

  • Self-hosted deployment: Unlike cloud-only automation platforms, n8n can be hosted on your own infrastructure — keeping data in-house and eliminating per-task pricing that can become expensive at scale
  • Hundreds of built-in integrations: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, GitHub, databases, email services, CRMs, and hundreds more are available out of the box
  • Custom code nodes: When a pre-built integration doesn’t quite do what you need, you can drop in JavaScript or Python code directly within the workflow
  • AI integration: n8n has native support for large language models, meaning you can build workflows that incorporate AI reasoning as a step — not just as a standalone tool

We’ve been building automations with n8n that connect different parts of our operations — from client onboarding processes to monitoring and alerting pipelines. The ability to wire up systems that don’t natively talk to each other, without commissioning bespoke software development, is genuinely powerful.

How These Tools Work Together

The real power emerges when these three platforms are used in combination. Claude Code handles the technical depth — writing, reviewing, and refining code and configurations. AI agents handle multi-step tasks that require research, decision-making, and interaction with external systems. n8n provides the automation backbone — connecting services, triggering workflows, and keeping data flowing between systems.

Together, they represent a meaningful shift in what a small, focused IT team can accomplish — enabling us to operate with the capability and consistency of a much larger organisation, while retaining the responsiveness and personal service that defines BIT Tech.

What Does This Mean for Our Clients?

Our investment in these tools is ultimately about delivering better outcomes for the businesses we support. As we develop expertise in AI-assisted operations and workflow automation, we’ll increasingly be able to:

  • Resolve technical issues faster and more consistently
  • Identify and fix problems proactively before they impact your business
  • Offer advice on how automation and AI tools could benefit your own operations
  • Build tailored automations for clients who want to streamline their own internal processes

We’re at an early and exciting stage of this journey. If you’re curious about how AI tools or workflow automation could benefit your business, we’d love to have that conversation.
